Each copy comes with a personalized autograph. 'What Are You Trying To Say' is an exciting - and maybe my most unique - album I didn't think would ever get done!
After starting my album in a Vancouver home studio in 2013, a move to Germany and constant touring made progress difficult—until a chance meeting with a French producer in 2014 led to recording sessions across Germany and Paris in early 2015, finally bringing the project to life!
It's unique in that 'Predictable' is one of two alternative rock songs on the album (A nod to my rock roots of the late '90's and the only track written, recorded and produced in Munich in a separate studio and producer) along with 'Reconcile' - where I play the only guitar solo I've ever played on any of my albums - which I had to learn it piece by piece to record it!
'Heartbeat' continues the eclectic nature of the album as it is the only flamenco-style rhythm acoustic song that I've ever written or recorded. While 'Magic' could be called a 'crush' song, it works as an ever-lasting love anthem with luscious string arrangements and heart-moving drums.
'Say No' might be my most vulnerable song I've written to date. It is acknowledgement of my - at the time - unconscious fears, beliefs and skepticisms towards romantic relationships and my false belief of not having any value to offer anyone. One of the most epic outro endings I've ever recorded with the string quartet supporting the sadness of it all.
The struggle with regret and resentment is real and I've really only sung about it in the song 'Replay' - a very rhythm oriented pop acoustic track.
'What Am I Worried About' string quartet production accompanying the piano along with the theme of 'worry' makes this one of my favorites.
My attempt at creating a musical genre called 'Acoustic Dance Music' was 'Just A Look' - a dance song that had acoustic chords sampled and pasted together in the recording process to give it a unique 'down-strumming-only' affect.
Finally 'Here All Along' is a gospel song that wrote itself out of nowhere on New Years Eve of 2014-2015. It's the only gospel-style song I've ever written stripped down to just acoustic guitar and a touch of organ.
So there you have it - maybe my most eclectic and unique album I've done to this point! Enjoy!
